And as they tell you their story, build a motion picture in your mind. Add visual images and pictures to the story. The richer the pictures, the easier it will be to remember.
Practice seeing the world differently. Use the muscle between your ears. Youve got one of the most precious gifts the world has ever known your marvelous mind.

It Seems To Benefit Young And Old People Alike
The impact of the small intervention was more profound than anyone might have believed. Although the two most severely amnesic patients showed no benefit, the others tripled the number of words they could remember from 14% to 49%, placing them almost within the range of healthy people with no neurological damage.
The next results were even more impressive. The participants were asked to listen to some stories and answer questions an hour later. Out of this same group, one half was told to make a mental note of whether the word contained the letter E. The other was asked to decide whether the word was pleasant to them or not.
The results were fascinating. It turned out being warned about the upcoming test didnt make any difference on the students results. Motivation, it turns out, didnt have a large impact on memory.

Research shows that the vast majority of words are learned from context. I cant emphasize this enough, as learning in context of situations and sentences has huge benefits for all three aspects of vocabulary acquisition: learning, recall and retention.
This means that you should never learn vocabulary from isolated lists of unrelated vocabulary, without seeing them as part of a wider picture.
Think of words as puzzle pieceswhen theyre scattered around the table, its almost impossible to remember or use them for anything useful. But once you combine even just a couple of the pieces together, a more meaningful context begins to appear, and the end result no longer appears unattainable.
There are many ways of introducing context into your vocabulary learning, the simplest being to learn vocabulary in sentences.
